The Chonburi Immigration Office has arrested a South Korean couple wanted under an Interpol Red Notice. The arrest took place in Pattaya, where the suspects were hiding after being accused of cryptocurrency and real estate investment fraud totaling over 1.7 billion won. The Chonburi Immigration Office task force located 72-year-old Wisan Yu and 52-year-old Kyunghee Jin, both South Korean nationals. It was determined that the suspects had invested funds in opening a Korean restaurant in Pattaya. Officers arrived at the scene and found both suspects overseeing preparations for the restaurant's opening. They were presented with an arrest warrant and subsequently taken to the Chonburi Provincial Immigration Office for further questioning. According to the details of the warrant, the suspects, as executives of a company in the Republic of Korea, defrauded citizens by offering investments in real estate development and digital currencies. They promised a return of 2% of the investment amount every five days. As a result of their actions, many people suffered losses, and the total damage exceeded 1.7 billion won, equivalent to approximately 36 million baht. South Korean authorities issued an arrest warrant and requested an Interpol Red Notice to assist in their search and apprehension. Following this, a request was sent to the Chonburi Provincial Immigration Office to conduct an investigation and detention for subsequent deportation and prosecution in their country of origin. During the preliminary interrogation, both suspects admitted to being subjects of an Interpol warrant. However, they stated that the case was initiated a long time ago and they had already reached a settlement agreement with the victims, so they were unaware of the reason for the subsequent issuance of the warrant. Nevertheless, both suspects confirmed their intention to return to South Korea to undergo legal proceedings and defend their interests in accordance with the law. Currently, officers have detained both suspects and transferred them to investigators at the Nongprue police station for procedural actions and to obtain a court order for their detention. After this, actions will be coordinated with the relevant authorities for their deportation to South Korea.
